Q: How do I confirm a  horseback ride?

A:  We work on a first come first to ride basis.  Confirmation is given when the tour is paid for upon arrival  in Granada.. You can contact us  for scheduling information, or questions  by clicking HERE   Our  Granada phone number is 7699-8644.


Q: What forms of payment do you accept?

A: Currently we accept cash. US dollars or Nicaraguan Cordobas (C$29.50/$1)
Cost is $39.00 for the long tour and $25.00 for the short tour. Payment should be made the day before the ride by contacting our Granada representative @ 7699-8644 to check availability. Signed waivers and payment are due prior to riding.


Q: How many people do you take on your ride?

A: We take a minimum of 2 and a maximum of 8 riders. Smaller groups ensure a more intimate experience.


Q: How many rides do you offer daily?

A: We offer two rides a day. The longer tour is 2 1/2 hours. The longer tour allows riders to see breathtaking views of the Laguna de Apoyo, rural country life in Nicaragua, and we also pass by the famous cemeteries of Granada.

A: The short tour is just over an hour long. We ride down country roads to the Laguna de Apoyo lookout and back to the ranch.


Q: What is the age limit for riders?

A: We welcome children but different ages will have different requirements. Our rides, are suitable for first-time riders, teenage and adult riders, can prove difficult for younger persons.


Q: Is there a weight restriction?

A: We have a 210 pound weight limit for our horses.


Q: Can you arrange transportation to the stables?

A: Yes we can. We can  pick up you up  in Granada and bring you back after the ride. Please remember to be at the agreed pickup location 10 minutes before the scheduled departure. There is a $3 charge per person for this service. Alternatively, if you have your own transportation and  a paid reservation, you go directly to the ranch which is located here


Q: I understand that sometimes photos are taken of us on the ride. Is there a charge?

A: No charge. We take photos on the ride but we only post a few to our Facebook and Instagram pages where you can comment, share, tag etc.


Q: Can I bring a camera or video camera?

A: Yes of course, but it may be exposed to the elements so it’s best to bring protection for your gear.


Q: Do you provide helmets?

A: We do have a limited number of helmets, cowboy hats and other head gear..


Q: Do you take out rides in the rainy season?

A: Yes, we operate year round. For the most part, you will just get wet, but it’s warm! If the weather is severe, where in our opinion, it would pose a danger to the riders or our horses we reserve the right to cancel rides – and your payment would be refunded in full.


Q: What do I need to bring?

A: Long pants and closed-toe shoes.


Q: What does Painted Pony provide for the ride?

A: Trail guide and we try match you with the right horse so you can ride at your experience level. Transportation to and from the farm can be arranged for an extra charge of $3 per person.


Q: Are your saddles English or Western?

A: We use both Western and English-style saddles.


Q: Can I ride with you even though I have never been horseback riding?

A: Absolutely. We have taken many first-time riders and the majority of our riders are beginners. Our horses are well-trained and we can take it slow.


Q: How many guides go out on the ride?

A: Minimum one, but normally two accompany if there are more than 4 riders.


Q: Will we see the Laguna de Apoyo on the ride?

A: Yes, both the longer ride and the shorter evening ride stop at the edge of the famous Laguna de Apoyo.


Q: How many horses do you have?

A: We currently have 12 horses in our stables plus some foals.
